unbelievable how far behind i am in posting these pix.
i should be posting pix from today's fun-ness of sally's first trick or treating moments.
she padded around as blues clues- the cutest little blue puppy dog you ever did see.
alas, i am still posting pix from the beginning of the month. =)
this week - i will catch up.
that is my determination speaking- so be ready to fly thru the month of october with me this week. =)
the haps around here this week-
todd and jess eubanks came to visit from Tulsa! they drove in on Wednesday and stayed thru Friday evening.... and mark and kors drove up to spend Friday with us all.
it was a fandiddli-astik time. =)
super great to hang out (toddly was gow's roomie at JBU, an honorary "quiteno" aka "quito guy", and was also in our wedding)
we froliked in the AMAZING fall leaves, had some deep dish pizza together to help them experience the great north, had coffee, had more coffee, played some scattergories, had coffee and then had some more coffee. it was a FUN time. =)
today we had a two hour meeting with our church body. basically, we had a dude come in from the outside to help us assess who we are, evaluate our needs/what we lack and maybe point us in the direction we hope to go. big and deep stuff- and pretty eye opening really.
our church is small- about 60, was planted about 6 years ago and is on the brink of growth or a painful death. we are hopeful that as God allows/guides/leads we will be able to grow and really become full of life and love for Him and others... pray for us in that k?
then we had a quick lunch of grilled cheesers and then hit down town lake geneva for some trick or treating.
it was quite commical as at first, sally would want two pieces of candy - one for each hand of course. then, we would go into the next establishment, she would look into the candy bowl, up at the scary adult dressed up, then down to the candies in her hands, then back up to the scary adult and she would shake her head. she wasn't interested in letting go of the two candies in her hands to take new ones. i even tried to pull them out of her hand and she would cry.
so- we proceeded to teach sally how to trick or treat.
she watched her cousins timmy and emma a bit- but we quickly split paths as sally enjoyed walking on her own on the sidewalks almost more than getting candy. our little miss independence! look out world!
(i said ALMOST in that sentence because as soon as i opened one candy for sally to try (and of course it was a chocolate one- really, is there any other candy worth eating?) she quickly learned the value of trick or treating.) =)
she never did say trick or treat- but instead we would go up to the scary dressed up adult and sally would say "dank do" - thank you. =)
now the girls are sleeping, gow's working on the camp project, i have about 100 emails to catch up on and our clocks are turned back.
it's cold again here- turned on the heat tonight.
a little daisy update.... she is finding herself a routine - and i am loving it.
we are putting her down around 8 or 8:30 (working on that so we can put the girls down at the same time when they are in the same room) and she is sleeping until 6-7. then she's up for about 2 hours and takes about a 3 hour mornin' nap. i am super proud of her.
as for the afternoons, she is still napping between each time she eats.... but no real pattern there yet. i am loving it. so soo happy to be sleeping thru the night and even having an hour or two awake with both girls asleep... ahhh... it is good for me personally and for our marriage. =)
daisy naps on her tummy and we are still swaddling her in the miracle blanket (houdini wrap) at night. oh- i didn't mention that usually each night around 5:30 we are waking up to pop daisy's plug back in...... not super convienent... but we are hoping by the time we flip her to her tummy, lose the miracle blanket and move her into sally's room- she will be over that. =)
daisy is big. i look at her and am amazed at how big -so fast she has grown. she is at the super duper smiley stage - where looking at her and talking is almost guarunteed at grin and if you are lucky, she will coo at ya.
i had an epiphany today as we were trick or treating.... for the past 2 months we have had alot of adjustments in our little world with adapting to life with 1) a newborn 2) two babies 3) gow's work, commute, and his other camp project 4)our involvement with the church.... anyways, with waking up in the night and full plates to boot- it has been a big strain on gow's and i's relationship. hard to find time, hard to have energy to communicate, hard to find a time when we both have energy to communicate. =)
ok- so my epiphany.... we can enjoy life right now! in the midst of "figuring things out", being worn out etc.
so ya'll were probably waiting for some deep thought there.. sorry. it's simple but it's true.
we can love our lives right now in the craziness. we just have to focus on sharing the craziness. might sound simple to ya'll- but it is a complex thought, and even more complex action to carry out amoung the 55 diapers we change a day around here. ok- yup, that was an exageration.
so- we are working on this- sharing the craziness. and loving it at the same time.
maybe i should write a book. or maybe i should just rename this blogspot.
ok- i will end this massive thing now.
thanks for listening!
enjoy your extra hour tonight.
